I applaud your endorsing grass-fed beef, because beef is a positive contributor to sound health and nutrition! Thank you -- but I need to correct your assumption that beef cattle are fed animal parts or meat. TOTALLY FALSE.

In the US, NO beef animals are fed meat scraps. The flack several years back was with milk cows and that has since ended. Beef cattle are raised on grass, pasture, and hay and are fed grain at the end for tenderizing and flavor. Sadly, Americans have been "fed" myths about the beef industry that are not true. In fact, natural beef (no hormones, etc) are healthier than even many of the fish in our ocean waters and definitely cleaner than some of the poultry that most Americans select. Cattle are herbivores and most (I'd almost venture to say all, but that may not be true) cattlemen in this country are jealously careful about what goes into their animals.

My family is a six-generation cattle ranching family and we raise natural beef....and most of the ranchers we know are good stewards of their animals and their land. Again, sadly, radicals have promoted and spread myths that are truly contradictory to the majority of ranchers in this country. Please check your facts and perhaps visit a few ranches around the country......most ranchers are preservationists and conservationists; they are intelligent and hard-working and dedicated and are not the American consumer stereotype a number of self-styled experts have characterized.

A good resource to look at: http://www.explorebeef.org/
Two good ranching bloggers to check out include http://advocatesforag.com/ and commonsenseagriculture.blogspot.com.
Thank you.
