If you want your body to fight off colds and the flu and worse ailments, then you may want to eat to boost your immune system. Here are three simple but powerfully effective foods to boost your immune system. Each of these foods benefit your immune system in a different way.
Garlic
Garlic is one of the best foods to boost your immune system. It is a natural antibiotic that kills viruses and fungus. Bad bacteria, viruses and fungi cannot become resistant to garlic the way that they are to synthetic antibiotics. Garlic has to be crushed or chopped before you can get its healing benefits. One way to add garlic to your diet is to finely chop a clove and swallow the chopped pieces. One person went on record to say that she does this daily and has not suffered any colds. This small amount will not cause a garlicky body odor. An alternative, though possibly not as effective as taking the raw garlic, is to take a garlic capsule daily. Garlic also has heart-health benefits since it may help lower your “bad” cholesterol, blood pressure and help your blood to flow freely.
Organic Lemon Juice
Lemon juice is one of the foods to boost the immune system since it is effective for balancing your internal pH environment. The pH of your body should be around 7.0. Over-processing, preservative-added and sugar laden foods make the body’s internal environment far too acidic. Viruses and disease-causing pathogens thrive in acidic environments. If you want the pH of your internal environment to be less acidic and more neutral, drink a small amount of organic lemon juice daily. Lemon juice safely raises your pH to a more neutral state. Then evil bacteria and pathogens have to go!
Kefir
Kefir is an ancient fermented milk drink made from a symbiotic culture of probiotic yeasts and bacteria. Kefir is one of the foods to boost the immune system. But kefir offers many more health benefits to you. Similar to yogurt, kefir is superior in nutrition since it incorporates beneficial probiotic yeast and is made with unheated milk. You can easily make kefir at home. Kefir is especially nutritious when you make it from raw milk.
To get the most benefit from these three foods to boost the immune system, decide to eliminate those tasty but immune system-weakening foods such as processed grains, white sugar and all foods that contain such things. Add to your diet raw, locally grown organic fruits and vegetables that are high in antioxidants. Eliminate simple sugars and processed foods. Add fresh raw foods bursting with nutrients along with the specific foods above. These two simple actions will help you strengthen your immune system.
